High Yield Extraction Plant

Sunflower Solvent Extraction Plant

The Sunflower Solvent Extraction Plant is expertly engineered to maximize oil recovery from sunflower seeds and pre-pressed sunflower cake. Sunflower seeds possess a high oil content (40-50%) and fibrous hulls. For optimal processing, the seeds often undergo decortication (dehulling) before being mechanically pressed. The resulting expeller cake, which still retains 12-18% oil, is then processed in our continuous moving-bed solvent extraction plant. Utilizing food-grade hexane, the system perfectly dissolves and extracts the remaining oil. Coupled with our advanced Desolventizer Toaster (DT) and multi-stage miscella distillation, the plant ensures the production of premium crude sunflower oil and a highly nutritious, desolventized sunflower meal (DOC) ideal for livestock feed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common technical queries about our Sunflower Solvent Extraction Plant

Q1. Why extract oil from sunflower cake instead of direct seeds?
expand_more

Sunflower seeds possess a very high oil content (often 40-50%). Feeding them directly into an extractor is inefficient. They must first be mechanically pressed in oil expellers, and the resulting cake (retaining 12-18% oil) is perfectly suited for continuous solvent extraction.

Q2. Is dehulling necessary before processing sunflowers?
expand_more

While optional, decortication (dehulling) is highly recommended. Removing the fibrous hulls increases the processing capacity of the extractor, prevents hulls from absorbing solvent, and most importantly, produces a highly valuable, high-protein sunflower meal.

Q3. What can be done with the separated sunflower hulls?
expand_more

The separated hulls have a high calorific value. They are commonly used directly as biomass fuel in the plant's steam boiler. This drastically reduces operational fuel costs, making the entire extraction process highly energy-efficient.

Q4. Does the plant handle the wax content in sunflower oil?
expand_more

The solvent extraction plant efficiently recovers the crude sunflower oil along with its natural waxes. The removal of these waxes to produce clear, transparent cooking oil is handled later in the edible oil refining process through a specialized step called "winterization".

Q5. How efficient is the solvent recovery system?
expand_more

Our plant is equipped with highly efficient multi-stage condensers and a zero-venting mineral oil absorption system. This closed-loop safety design ensures that overall hexane loss is strictly maintained below 2.0 liters per ton of processed material.

Q6. Can the same plant process other oilseeds like soybean?
expand_more

Absolutely. Our solvent extraction plants are designed to be highly versatile. With minor adjustments in the seed preparatory section and operational parameters, you can efficiently switch to processing soybean, mustard, or canola cakes.
