Gravity Filter

Low-pressure, self-cleaning filtration technology engineered to remove crystallized wax from winterized edible oil without filter aid, manual labour, or oil spillage.

Automatic
Gravity Filter

Super Techno Engineers' Gravity Filter is an automatic gravity filter and edible oil gravity filter built specifically for the final filtration stage of winterized edible oil, where crystallized wax and stearin must be separated from the oil before packing. Unlike a pressure-driven system, a Gravity Filter passes oil through the filter media at low pressure, relying on gravity rather than forced flow, which avoids the need for Hyflo, bleaching earth, or any other filter aid. This keeps operating cost low and eliminates a recurring consumable that pressure leaf filters and plate-and-frame filters depend on.

Because our Gravity Filter is a self-cleaning gravity filter, the wax cake collected on the filter cloth is automatically flushed and discharged at the end of each cycle, with no manual scraping or cloth removal required. This makes it a preferred choice for edible oil refineries looking to cut manpower dependency, reduce cycle downtime, and get consistently clear, wax-free oil batch after batch.

Design Principle

Low-Pressure Filtration & Automatic Wax Discharge

The core of an effective gravity filter for winterized oil is a fully enclosed vessel design that lets oil flow through the filter cloth under its own gravitational head rather than external pump pressure. This gentle flow prevents wax crystals from being forced through the media, delivering consistently clear filtrate without the haze that can result from over-pressurized filtration.

Once the wax cake builds up on the cloth and flow rate drops, our continuous gravity filter cycle automatically halts feed, triggers the cleaning mechanism, and discharges the collected wax before resuming filtration, all without operator intervention.

Material Excellence

Built for Long Service Life

Our Gravity Filter Manufacturer-grade construction uses corrosion-resistant filter cloth and heavy-gauge stainless steel or mild steel vessel fabrication, engineered to withstand repeated wax crystallization and cleaning cycles without degrading filtration quality.

Filter cloth life typically extends up to two years under normal operating conditions, well beyond what manually cleaned systems achieve, since the absence of manual scraping avoids the wear and tear that shortens cloth life in conventional setups.

The compact, space-saving footprint of our gravity filter machine makes it suitable for both new installations and retrofits into existing winterization lines with limited floor space.

Frequently Asked Questions

A Gravity Filter is used at the final stage of winterization to separate crystallized wax and stearin from edible oil, delivering clear, cold-stable oil without requiring pressure-driven filtration or filter aid.

Because oil passes through the filter media under low-pressure gravity flow rather than forced pressure, wax crystals are captured directly on the filter cloth without needing a precoat layer of filter aid, unlike pressure leaf filters.

Once the wax cake builds up and flow rate drops, the system automatically halts feed, triggers cake discharge, and resets the filter cloth for the next cycle, all without manual scraping or operator intervention.

Under standard operating conditions, filter cloth life typically extends up to two years, since the automatic, hands-off cleaning cycle avoids the wear that manual cleaning causes in conventional filters.

Yes. Our Gravity Filter Machine has a compact, space-saving footprint designed to fit into both new installations and existing plant layouts with limited floor space.

Oils with naturally high wax content, such as sunflower, rice bran, and corn oil, typically require a Gravity Filter or similar wax filtration system as part of their winterization process before packing.
