Plant Spares & Equipment
High-quality, durable equipment and replacement components for Solvent Extraction and Edible Oil Refinery plants.
Solvent Extraction Plant Spares
Desolventization Toaster (DT)
The Desolventizer Toaster (DT) is used in a solvent extraction plant to remove hexane solvent from the extracted oilseed meal. The wet meal enters the DT where steam is applied, causing the solvent to evaporate. At the same time, the meal is heated (toasted) to improve its quality and make it safe for animal feed. The solvent vapors are recovered, and the final product obtained is desolventized toasted meal.
Extractor
The Extractor is the main equipment in a solvent extraction plant where oil is removed from oilseeds using a solvent, usually hexane. The prepared seeds or flakes are fed into the extractor, and solvent is sprayed over them. The oil dissolves in the solvent, forming a mixture called miscella, while the remaining solid becomes meal. The miscella is sent for oil recovery.
Batch Extractor
A Batch Extractor is used in solvent extraction plants where oil is extracted from oilseeds in fixed batches instead of continuously. The prepared seeds are loaded into the extractor, and solvent (hexane) is added to dissolve the oil. After a certain time, the oil-solvent mixture (miscella) is drained, and the remaining meal is discharged. This process is repeated for each batch. It is simple in design but slower compared to continuous extractors.
Condenser
A condenser is used in a solvent extraction plant to convert solvent vapors (like hexane) back into liquid form. The vapors coming from equipment like the extractor or desolventizer are cooled using water or cooling media inside the condenser. As the vapors lose heat, they condense into liquid solvent, which is then collected and reused in the process. This helps in recovering solvent and reducing losses.
Economizer
An Economizer is used to improve energy efficiency in a solvent extraction plant. It recovers heat from hot outgoing fluids (like vapors or exhaust gases) and uses it to preheat incoming streams such as oil, water, or solvent. This reduces fuel consumption and saves energy, making the process more economical.
Edible Oil Spares and Equipment
Crystallization Equipment
Crystallization equipment is used in oil refining (especially dewaxing) to remove wax from oil. In this process, the oil is slowly cooled under controlled conditions so that wax crystals form. These crystals are then separated by filtration, leaving clear oil. This helps prevent cloudiness in the final oil, especially at low temperatures.
Deodorizer
A Deodorizer is used in an edible oil refinery to remove odor, taste, and remaining impurities from oil. In this process, the oil is heated to a high temperature (around 240-260°C) under vacuum, and steam is passed through it. This steam carries away volatile compounds like free fatty acids, aldehydes, and ketones. The result is a clean, odorless, and stable oil known as RBD oil.
Pressure Leaf Filter
A Pressure Leaf Filter is used in oil refining to separate solid impurities from oil, especially after bleaching. It consists of multiple vertical or horizontal filter leaves covered with filter cloth. The oil mixed with bleaching earth is pumped into the filter under pressure, where solids are trapped on the leaves and clear oil passes through. The collected solids form a cake, which is later removed. This ensures clean, clear oil for further processing.
Gravity Filter
A Gravity Filter is used in oil processing to remove solid impurities from oil using natural gravitational force. The oil flows slowly through a filter medium (like cloth or sand), where suspended particles are trapped, and clear oil passes through without applying pressure. It is a simple and low-cost filtration method, mainly used for basic or preliminary cleaning of oil.
Bleacher for Edible Oil Refinery
A Bleacher is used in an edible oil refinery to remove color, impurities, and trace metals from oil. In this process, the oil is heated (around 95-105°C) under vacuum and mixed with bleaching earth or activated carbon. These materials absorb unwanted substances like pigments and residual impurities. The mixture is then filtered to remove the spent earth, leaving clean, light-colored oil ready for the next stage.
