REQUEST A QUOTE →What Is a Solvent Extraction Plant?
A solvent extraction plant is an industrial processing system designed to recover oil from oilseeds, oil cakes or flakes using a suitable solvent.
During the extraction process, the prepared material comes into contact with the solvent. The oil dissolves into the solvent to form miscella, while the extracted meal is separated and further processed. The solvent is then separated from the oil and recovered for reuse.
Oil Recovery
Recovers oil remaining in prepared oilseed material, cake or flakes.
Miscella Formation
Oil combines with the solvent during extraction to form an oil-rich miscella.
Solvent Recovery
The solvent is separated, recovered and returned to the extraction process.
How Does a Solvent Extraction Plant Work?
A continuous process that efficiently separates oil from oilseeds using solvent extraction technology.
Cleaning, destoning, cracking, dehulling, cooking, flaking and conditioning.
Prepared flakes or cake come into contact with solvent to extract oil and form miscella.
Oil-rich miscella is separated from the extracted meal and transferred for further processing.
Residual solvent is removed from the meal to produce high-quality de-oiled meal.
Solvent is separated from miscella to obtain crude oil for further processing.
Solvent vapours are condensed and recovered for reuse in the extraction process.
Seed Preparation for Solvent Extraction Plant
Seeds are cleaned, destoned, cracked, dehulled, cooked, flaked and conditioned to achieve the best extraction efficiency.
Improved oil release
Better solvent penetration
Uniform and high-quality flakes
Reduced impurities
Continuous and efficient operation
Solvent Extraction /
Extractor
Prepared flakes are contacted with solvent, typically hexane, in the extractor, where the remaining oil is dissolved to form miscella. The extracted meal is discharged for desolventization.
- ✓ High extraction efficiency
- ✓ Continuous operation
- ✓ Uniform miscella quality
- ✓ Low residual oil in meal
- ✓ Robust and reliable design
Meal
Desolventization System
The desolventizer toaster removes residual solvent from the extracted meal using heat and steam, producing high-quality de-oiled meal with low solvent content.
- ✓ Efficient solvent removal
- ✓ Improved meal quality
- ✓ Low residual solvent content
- ✓ Energy-efficient operation
- ✓ Suitable for continuous operation
Miscella
Distillation System
The oil-rich miscella is heated and distilled to separate the solvent from the oil. High-quality crude oil is obtained, and solvent vapors are sent to the recovery system.
- ✓ Multi-stage distillation
- ✓ High purity crude oil
- ✓ Efficient separation of solvent and oil
- ✓ Stable and continuous operation
Solvent Recovery System
Solvent vapours from the distillation and desolventization sections are condensed and recovered using condensers and absorbers, and recycled back into the process, reducing solvent losses and operating costs.
- ✓ High solvent recovery efficiency
- ✓ Reduced solvent loss
- ✓ Environmentally friendly operation
- ✓ Reliable and continuous system
